Melissa X CSC: Tried & Tested - Cambridge Satchel

As fashion month draws to a close, it’s time to start thinking about everything we’ve seen over the past few weeks and how the catwalk’s biggest successes will translate to the real world for the season ahead.

Here at The Cambridge Satchel Company, London Fashion Week was all about our new collaboration with Brazilian brand Melissa. The collection is made up of three new satchels in three bold colours, made in Melissa’s iconic Melflex (100% PVC) material. And the fashion world loved it!

Our Melissa 11″ Satchel in Holographic was spotted on the arm of Kitty Cowell and Betsy-Blue English, rising stars in the British fashion scene. There’re not the only ones to be totally besotted with the Melissa satchels. A dramatic Melissa x CSC flashmob stopped cars and turned heads outside the Eudon Choi show and was then featured on Nylon and Dazed Online.

But whilst we have loved being part of the fashion’s inner sphere, we’re always focused on creating bags for real life. We love to photograph people who already carry and love them: our friends, our family, our colleagues and other great people we know.

With that in mind, we sent three of our team from London HQ out and about in Covent Garden with their Melissa x CSC bag of choice in tow. It’s interesting to see how they’ve all styled their bag differently, from casual day bag to a more going out clutch bag.

Bag: Melissa 11” Satchel in Holographic

What I wore: A denim jumpsuit by Madewell and jewellery by Stephen Einhorn

My style: I don’t really stray from black, grey, white and denim, it makes it a lot easier to get dressed in the morning. I would say I am pretty relaxed and will normally always have on a pair of vans so the bag is to give me a bit of colour.

On Melissa x CSC: It’s all about the Holographic for me. You can wear it a multitude of ways, the colour is really great with most clothes and it’s waterproof!

Bag: Melissa 11” Satchel in Black

What I wore: Black Jumpsuit with buckle details by Oasis

My style: is very monochrome. I like to stick to a mainly neutral colour palette but select pieces with a little bit of intrigue- like the buckles on this jumpsuit or add colour through accessories. A good life mantra is that it is always better to be overdressed than underdressed, which is definitely reflected in my everyday style.

On Melissa x CSC: I love the glossy finish of the Melissa bags. It makes them stand out- and adds the subtle bit of intrigue I look for!

Bag: Melissa 11” Satchel in Red

What I wore: My favourite new red jumper by H&M and striped mini skirt by Urban Outfitters.

My style: I’d say it’s part sixties, part wannabe French girl. I like the silhouettes of the sixties, all mini skirts and shift dresses but I try (and try is the operative word) to never look too done or polished. I love the whole white tee shirt, jeans, messy hair and red lipstick kind of thing that French girls make look so effortless.

On Melissa x CSC: The collection is fun and playful and doesn’t take itself too seriously. I like that we’ve kept the details of our classic satchel but reimagined it in a completely unexpected fabric. To be honest, on paper this bag isn’t really for me but as soon as I saw it in real life and paired in with an outfit I feel comfortable in, I realised how wearable the collection is!
